What is it?
We want to make sure you never lose access to your cryptocurrency. That is why we made it as simple as possible to recover your wallet on a new phone if your old one is lost or stolen.
How does it work?
There are three ways to recover your Argent wallets:
- Off-chain recovery with the encrypted recovery key
- Recovery onchain (with 2FA or guardians)
- Recovery with seed phrase (Argent X only)
Off-chain recovery with the encrypted recovery key (mobile accounts only)
If you are moving to a new device and still have access to your wallet—or if you saved the encrypted recovery key before—you can use offchain recovery.
This is a recovery method that does not require any network fees, since it happens offchain.

Recovery onchain
Argent Ethereum account lets you pick trusted people or devices to act as your guardians. If you want to recover your wallet on a new phone, you will need approval from at least half of your guardians.
For example, if you had two guardians, you'd need you and at least one guardian to approve the recovery.
This option works even if you no longer have your old phone.
