What is Community Finance?
Community Finance is a new category built around a simple idea: everyday spending should create value for the communities people care about.
Ready is moving beyond the traditional crypto neobank model of similar cards, cashback programs, and features built mainly for existing crypto users. Community Finance uses the same self-custodial accounts and global stablecoin infrastructure to create a financial experience built around belonging and participation.
Community Cards are where it starts.
What is a Community Card?
A Community Card is a payment card built around a specific community.
When members spend with the card, a share of the revenue generated by the card program goes to the community they have chosen to support.
Each Community Card program is created with the community and designed for its members. The card design, content, points, rewards, and benefits will be shaped around that community.
For members, everyday spending becomes a way to participate, contribute, and get closer to something they care about.
For community owners, it creates a closer relationship with their supporters and a recurring source of revenue tied to everyday spending.
Does supporting a community cost me anything extra?
No.
A $3 coffee will still cost $3. Nothing is added to the price of your purchase.
Revenue is already generated whenever a card payment is made. Normally, that revenue remains with the companies involved in providing the card. With a Community Card, a share of the revenue generated by the card program goes to the community instead.
How does the community receive money?
Every Community Card program generates revenue when members spend.
A share of that revenue goes to the community connected to the card. Because it is linked to members’ everyday spending, it can create a recurring revenue stream rather than a one-off contribution.
Which communities can I support?
When you join Ready, you will be able to choose from our official community partners.
We are starting with select esports partners because esports is home to some of the most passionate, global, and digitally native communities.
The roster will grow over time, with more teams, creators, clubs, and other communities joining the platform.
Member demand will help shape which communities we partner with next, so tell us who you would like to see.
What do members receive?
Spending with a Community Card will unlock rewards and benefits created with the community rather than designed entirely by Ready.
Depending on the Community Card program, these may include:
- Limited merchandise.
- Giveaways.
- Premium or VIP access.
- Exclusive content.
- Real-world experiences that are not otherwise available for purchase.
Each program will be custom-built for the community and its members, so the available rewards and benefits will vary.
Can I change community if I change my mind?
That's the goal. As the roster grows, we want members to be able to support the community that fits them best. Switching won't be instant at the start, since each card and its rewards are custom-built around one community, but it's something we're building toward.
Will Community Finance expand beyond esports?
That is the intention.
Community Finance is designed to work for any community with genuine supporters behind it, including esports teams, sports clubs, creators, streamers, musicians, local communities, and other membership-based groups.
When will Community Cards be available?
Community Cards will roll out in waves, starting with select esports partners.
We will share the first community partners, availability, and launch details soon. Follow @ready_co on X for announcements.
Which card network and issuer will Community Cards use?
We will share full card details, including the issuer, card network, supported countries, fees, limits, and availability, closer to launch.
Why is Ready building Community Finance?
Ready has spent years building self-custodial accounts, global payments, and technology that allows people to hold and spend digital dollars without giving up control of their money.
That technology remains the foundation of the product. What is changing is who we are building it for and what everyday spending can support.
Communities do not stop at borders, but traditional ways of supporting them often do. Stablecoins allow digital dollars to move globally, while self-custodial accounts allow members to remain in control of their funds.
The new Ready experience brings this infrastructure together with Community Cards, giving everyday spending a role in supporting the communities people belong to.
Every card supports something. We think it should support something you care about.
What happens to my current Ready account and assets?
The Ready app will update later in August.
When it does, every existing user will automatically receive a new self-custodial account on Base.
Your existing Starknet account and assets will not move to the new Base account automatically. Your funds remain onchain, safe, and under your control.
For information about your options and the steps you need to take, see:
Is the new Ready account still self-custodial?
Yes.
Every member receives a self-custodial account on Base, which means you continue to control your own funds.
Base provides fast, low-cost transactions, strong stablecoin liquidity, and connections across a large onchain ecosystem. This makes it suitable for holding and spending digital dollars while keeping the underlying infrastructure simple for members.
Is Ready closing or leaving Starknet?
No.
Ready is changing direction, but it is not closing, and Starknet is not being dropped.
Ready X will continue to support Starknet, including:
- Sending and receiving assets.
- Token swaps.
- Staking.
- DeFi.
- Bridging assets to other networks.
The Ready app is moving to Base because it is being built for a different purpose: holding and spending digital dollars through Community Finance.
How do I move my Starknet assets?
Your Starknet assets will not move to your new Base account automatically.
We recommend moving them before the Ready app update. You can send transferable assets to Ready X or, where needed, import your full Starknet account into Ready X.
