Most traditional wallets require a seed phrase - a string of words you write down and keep safe - to recover your account if you lose your phone.
We thought there was a better way.
How Ready does it differently
Ready replaces the need for a seed phrase with a smarter recovery system, powered by:
- Smart contracts
- Your phone’s secure storage
- Guardian (2FA)
What happens on your phone
When you create your Ready account:
- A private key is generated locally on your phone
- This key is encrypted using your phone's passcode and, if available, the Secure Enclave
- It is stored safely inside the app or your phone’s Keychain - the most secure part of your device
- The key never leaves your phone unencrypted
So how do you recover your wallet?
If you lose your phone and encrypted recovery kit, your guardians can work together to create a new private key that replaces the lost one. This is only possible because Ready is a smart contract wallet - your wallet lives onchain and recognizes the new key once your guardians approve it.
Why this is better
- No seed phrase to write down or hide
- No risk of someone finding it or losing it
- Recovery is simple and secure, using people or devices you trust
It is a faster, safer, and more user-friendly way to stay in control of your funds.
